Primary Needs:

4) The stand is multi - purpose.
5) The stand is pleasing to the eye.
6) The stand is portable.
7) The stand is economical.

These are the three concepts that I chose to make prototypes of according to my selection matrix.
Concept A - Screw pivot top with screw clamping legs (leg screws not shown), legs are infinitely height adjustable in this prototype.
Laptop in place, legs fully raised, and top tilted slightly.
Without laptop, legs retracted, top in horizontal position.
Concept D - Heat conductive top with a built-in drawer for storage of stationery (or anything else that fits).
With laptop in place.
Without laptop, and with drawer open.
Concept E - Top with built-in stationery bins and cooling slots.
With laptop in place and toothpicks standing in for pens and pencils.
Without laptop to show cooling slots.
